Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable manufacture of high-quality coated wire with uniform coat hardness by detecting and controlling the hardness of coating of coated wire in a stage where the coating material applied on wire is cured by a coat curing device to prepare coated wire. CONSTITUTION:Coating material is applied on wire 8 by a coating device 9, and the coating material is cured by a coat curing device 10 to prepare coated wire 5. In a stage following the above process, a process to detect and control the hardness of coating of coated wire 5 is provided. That is, the modulus of elasticity is measured by causing the coated wire 5 to pass through an elastic modulus measurement part 7, and the hardness of the coat is calculated by a calculation part 13 based on its modulus of elasticity. Then the coating material curing capability of the coat curing device 10 is controlled based on the hardness of the coat calculated. Subsequently it is possible to manufacture high-quality coated wire having uniform coating strength.
