NEW MATERIAL:An unsaturated fatty acid derivative expressed by formula I [Y is free or esterified carboxyl or formula II (R<a> and R<b> are H, lower alkyl, lower cycloalkyl, aralkyl, phenyl, halogen-substituted phenyl, etc.); R<1> is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, hydroxy-substituted alkyl, aminoalkyl substituted by R<c> and R<d> (R<c> and R<d> are H or lower alkyl), heterocyclic group, etc.]. EXAMPLE:(5Z,7E,9E)-4,11-Dihydroxy-octadeca-5,7,9-trienoic acid. USE:Useful as an antiallergic, anti-inflammatory, carcinostatic, antirheumatic agents, etc., having excellent leukotriene B4 antagonistic action. PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula III is reduced and, as necessary, the ester group is amidated, etc., to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
