Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an efficient sentence composing operation, by a method wherein, with respect to a character code in an external storage device, the replacement and insertion of a character code is carried out, and the synthesized and edited information is stored into a second storage means. CONSTITUTION:When a typist inputs a character code desired as a replacement from a keyboard 40, the character code is displayed on a display 41 and transferred to an internal storage device 44 and stored therein, furthermore being also transferred to a character code synthesizing/editing means wherein a replaceable character code is replaced with the inputted character code. When a character code output means 46 has judged the character code should be outputted on the basis of a judgement that a printing should be immediately carried out or a judgement that the character code is other than the character code replaced wit the information which had been already stored into the internal storage device 44, the character code is properly edited by the character code synthesizing/editing means and transferred to a printer 43 to be printed. Moreover, next data is fetched from the appropriate character code in an external storage device 46 by a reading means. This process is repeated until a control code representing the end of the character code is discovered.
