Abstract
PURPOSE:To prepare the title polymer having an excellent heat resistance, by polymerizing an org. polyvalent isocyanate and an org. polybasic carboxylic acid (anhydride) in such a manner that an epoxy compd. is added in the midst or at the completion of the polymn. CONSTITUTION:An org. polyvalent isocyanate A, such as tolylene-2,4- diisocyanate, and an org. polybasic carboxylic acid (anhydride) B, such as terephthalic acid or trimellitic anhydride, are blended together in a molar ratio of A to B of 0.70-1.30, and 0.01-10mol.% (based on B) catalyst C, such as a tert. amine or an alkali metal carbonate, is added thereto, if necessary. The mixture is polymerized in an inert gaseous atmosphere under heating at 20-250 deg.C for 1-20hr. In the midst (or at the completion) of the polymn., when a desired degree of polymn. has been attained, 5-0.05mol.% (based on A) epoxy compd. D, such as phenyl glycidyl ether, is added, and the polymn. is continued until the title polymer is obtd.
