Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration in the picture quality due to moire by providing an arithmetic circuit operating the low side band component of an FM signal, an FM signal demodulator and a subtractor subtracting an output signal of the arithmetic circuit from an output signal of the demodulator and using the subtractor so as to cancel the undesired component included in the output signal of the demodulator and outputting the result as the demodulation signal. CONSTITUTION:The moire component fm after the demodulation by the n-th order side band is expressed as fm=2fcnfs=nf1-(n-2)fc, where fc is the carrier frequency of the FM signal, fs is the signal frequency and f1 is a 1st side band frequency. Then a component of nt1-(n-2)fc is formed by the carrier frequency fc and the 1st side band frequency f1 at the arithmetic circuit 3 and subtracted from the demodulation signal. Then the moire component fm included in the output signal of a pulse count type demodulator 2 is cancelled by the subtractor 3 and the output of the subtractor 4 is outputted as the demodulation signal. Thus, the moire component generated in the demodulation signal is cancelled completely and the deterioration in the picture quality due to moire is eliminated.
