When a calling side begins to a signal on receiving the guidance, a detector 5b identifies the frequency component of the received signal at the head part and decides whether the received signal is a speech signal or facsimile image signal. Then when the speech signal is received, a sound recording part 6 is actuated to record the received signal and when a facsimile image signal is received, a facsimile equipment 5 is actuated to receiver and records the received signal automatically.
