Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce an Al alloy which exhibits excellent heat resistance and wear resistance by incorporating specific ratios of Mn, Fe, Cu, Zr, Si, Pb and Sn into Al.
CONSTITUTION: The molten metal of the Al alloy contg., by weight, 6W8% Mn, 0.5W2% Fe, 2W5% Cu, 0.03W0.5% Zr, 0.4W4% Si, 4W14% Pb, 0.4W4% Sn and the balance Al with impurities is refined and quench solidified by an atomizing method to form the Al alloy powders. Said alloy powders are subjected to green compacting under about 0.5W3t/cm2 compacting pressure by CIP, etc. to form a molded body having about ≥70% compact density in a true density ratio. Said molded body is then preheated in a nonoxidizing atm. and is thereafter hot extruded at about 380W450°C in about ≥10 extrusion ratio. By this method, the Al alloy having high strength and high wear resistance not only in ordinary temp. but also in high temp. is obtd.
