Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent cataphoresis phenomenon by parallelly connecting an inductor between two electrode terminals of a discharge lamp in connection to a high frequency inverter through a current-limited choke. CONSTITUTION:In the load circuit 3 of a discharge lamp, a diode 18 and a constant voltage switching element 19 are connected in series in the regular direction as a starter circuit 17 between the non-power supply side terminals of filament electrodes 16a, 16b of a discharge lamp 15, and an inductor 20 is connected parallelly. When the discharge lamp 15 is lighted up, the DC component of the current flowing the discharge lamp load circuit 3 is bypassed by the inductor 20, as the impedance of the inductor 20 in parallel connection with the non-power supply side of the discharge lamp 15 is very low to DC and very high to high frequency, and only high frequency components flow in the discharging path of the discharge lamp 15. This prevents occurrence of the cataphoresis phenomenon.
