Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve work efficiency of forming a coating layer by forming a ceramic coating layer on a seal sliding surface of an aluminium alloy side housing and forming a low-cost coating layer on the outer peripheral portion thereof. CONSTITUTION:A ceramic coating layer 9 excellent in wear-resistance is formed on a seal sliding surface 1 (area indicated by mesh) where a seal member such as a side seal mounted on a rotor is slid in an aluminium alloy side housing of a rotary piston engine through an undercoat layer 10. A low-cost ceramic layer 1 is formed on a joint surface 3 to a rotor housing similarly through an undercoat layer 10. The low-cost ceramic layer 11 is formed in such a manner as to continuously connect to the coating layer 9 at the outer peripheral portion of the seal sliding surface 1 and gradually change in texture to low cost ceramics as it goes to the outside.
