Abstract

PURPOSE:To transfer a softened glass block to a specified position without abnormal deformation by pressfeeding a gas from the bottom of a casting mold to blow up the softened glass block into an upper transfer body, and sending out the block from one-end port of the transfer body. CONSTITUTION:The casting mold 1 is moved to a specified position directly under the transfer body 6a, and a gas is pressfed into a pore 2a through a gas inlet 3 to blow up the softened glass block 15a into the transfer body 6a. After the softened glass block 15a is blown up to a position shown by the dotted line and then dropped to the lower-end port 16a, the transfer body 6a is moved, and the softened glass block 15a is transferred into a press-forming die 17a through the lower-end port 16a. By this method, the softened glass block 15a kept at a temp. appropriate for press forming and having a uniform temp. distribution can be transferred into the forming die.
