Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a lancher capable of accelerating to an arbitrary velocity by a method wherein a flying object with a fuel pellet covered by a cylindrical superconductor or a permanent magnet, a guide rail made of a permanent magnet or a superconductor, and a plurality of pulse coils placed along the guide rail are excited successively. CONSTITUTION:When an initial excitation is carried out, power is supplied to one or two pulse coils and an outside magnetic field is applied to a flying object 2. A hydrogen pellet with a melting point of 14K is sealed into the object 2 which is brought into superconductive condition and the outside magnetic field is removed. Since the magnetic field is confined in a cylindrical superconductor 1, exciting condition is kept. To increase driving force caused by the interaction with the magnetic field generated by the pulse coils, it is better to excite the flying object initially and moreover intensely. A plurality of the pulse coils are successively excited in step with the velocity of the flying object to accelerate the object to a required velocity. At the time of the said acceleration the flying object 2 is levitated by an electromagnetic force effected between the flying object 2 and the guide rail 3 and running resistance becomes zero and efficienct acceleration can be therefore achieved.
