Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance in high conversion without almost producing a by-product such as a saturated hydrocarbon, by selectively hydrogenating a hydrocarbon having ternary bond using a Ru metal film formed on a substrate as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:When a hydrocarbon (e.g. acetylene) having ternary bond is selectively hydrogenated to afford a hydrocarbon (e.g. ethylene) having double bond, the reaction is carried out using a Ru metal film formed on a substrate as a catalyst. As the substrate, a material such as Cu, Fe, Ni, Zn, glass, heat- resistant plastic, etc., especially Cu in board form is preferably used. As the preparation of the catalyst, a method decomposing a metal Ru in glow discharge plasma and forming the film thereof on the substrate is preferably used.
