Abstract
PURPOSE: To save the space of an emergency staircase by providing a movable landing which is stored in a housing portion formed in each floor in a extendable manner, and a stair portion which is attached to the landing and has its front end placed to the movable landing on the lower floor, to thereby connect upper and lower floors. CONSTITUTION: An emergency staircase is internally formed on each floor of a building 1, and comprised of a housing portion 4 having an opening on the side of an external wall 2, a movable landing 5 horizontally housed in the housing portion 4 and slidably extended from the opening 3, and a rotatable stair portion 6 having one end thereof pivotally attached to the lower surface of the movable landing. When an emergency such as firing occurs, the landing 5 on each floor starts sliding in unison by the operation of a switch on a console panel, and extended from the external wall 2. Next, the stair portion 6 held at the landing 5 is rotated toward the lower floor while its speed being regulated by a wire lope 14, and the front end thereof is softly placed, to thereby form a stair passage between the landings 5 on the upper and lower floors. Thus, the emergency staircase is not externally exposed under normal conditions, while providing safe evacuation in an emergency.
