Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a high-strength ceramic thin film wherein a crack and peeling, etc. of the film are not caused even if a substrate material is exerted with mechanical force by previously subjecting the surface of the substrate material to curing treatment in the case of forming the surface film having corrosion resistance and wear resistance on the substrate material. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a substrate material is firstly subjected to curing treatment and thereafter a surface film having corrosion resistance and wear resistance is formed thereon. As the curing treatment in this case, nitriding and carburizing, etc., can be performed e.g. for iron and steal material. Further as ceramic having corrosion resistance and wear resistance, nitride such as TiN and carbide such as TiC can be used. Since the surface of the substrate material is subjected to curing treatment by this method, plastic deformation is not caused on the surface of the substrate material even if the material is exerted with mechanical force. Therefore a crack and peeling, etc., are not caused on the ceramic film.
