Abstract

PURPOSE:To execute cold rolling with high efficiency without generating deformation at the time of final annealing by starting the cold rolling of an austenitic stainless steel in a specific temp. range controlled by the equiv. of Ni and adequately suppressing the content of martensite. CONSTITUTION:The material is preheated from an initial pass and the rolling is started at 50-250 deg.C material temp. and at the temp. above the straight lines (a), (b) shown in the figure by the Ni equiv. Nieq=Ni+0.65Cr+0.98Mo+1.05Mn+0.35Si+12.6C of the alloy at the time of subjecting the austenitic stainless steel such as 18Cr-8Ni steel to cold rolling. The cold rolling is further executed by suppressing the content of the martensite before the final annealing to <=20%. The cold rolling of the material is thereby executed with high efficiency under the high reduction. In addition, the rolling of the above-mentioned material to a lighter gage is possible and the generation of the deformation at the time of the final annealing is obviated.
