Abstract

PURPOSE: To impart excellent wet wrinkle resistance and shrinkage resistance without lurting the characteristics of silk by imparting a treating liquid comprising a polyfunctional epoxy resin ad a neutral or weakly alkaline metal salt and in a foamed state to a silk product, and leaving the imparted product in a sealed state of a specific water content without drying the product. CONSTITUTION: A treating liquid obtained by compounding a polyfunctional epoxy compound (e.g. ethylene glycol- and polyethylene glycol-diglycidyl ether) with a neutral or weakly alkaline alkali metal salt (e.g. a thiosulfate and a thiocyanate), and formed into a foamed state (in 5-30 times expanded state) is imparted to a silk product so that the wet pickup may be >=25%, and the treating liquid-imparted silk product is left in a sealed state at 20-50 deg.C for >=8 hr without drying the product and while keeping the state of >=15% water content to bind the epoxy compound thereto chemically, and to improve the wrinkle resistance and the light resistance. A uniform stable finishing is enabled with an extremely small amount of the epoxy compound by imparting the compound in the foamed state.
