Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the tile molding material which is light and having a modulus of elasticity and a strength at least equivalent to those of Al, by mixing a thermosetting resin with a specified filler and a reinforcing glass fiber. CONSTITUTION:A paste is obtained by mixing 100pts.wt. thermosetting resin (A) (e.g., unsaturated polyester resin) with a filler comprising 10-40pts.wt. glass balloons (B) and 5-20pts.wt. reinforcing filler (C) of an elasticity >=10,000kg/mm<2> (e.g., mica flakes of a particle diameter or a fiber length <=1mm) and 5-100pts.wt. shrinkage decreasing agent (e.g., PS), 1-3pts.wt. polymerization initiator, 5-20pts.wt. mold release and 1-4pts.wt. thickener (D). This paste is applied to a film and 43-48wt.% reinforcing glass fiber is sprayed over the coated surface. A film coated wit said paste is laid on this surface and the assemblage is pressed to obtain a sheetlike molding material in which paste layers 2a and 2b between which the reinforcing glass fiber 3 is sandwiched are formed on the inner surfaces of film surfaces 1a and 1b.
