Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain soft capsule not to collapse by water transfer, by packing a core solution comprising a hydrophilic material having a given water activity value into a specific coating film made of gelatin. CONSTITUTION:A core solution comprising a hydrophilic material having 0.55-0.80 water activity value is packed into a coating film made of gelatin which is mixed with a humectant to provide a higher water activity value than that of the core solution to give soft capsule. When the water activity value of the core solution becomes higher than 0.80, since the water activity value of the coating film is always kept >=the water activity value of the core solution, the water activity value of the coating film becomes higher than 0.80. Consequently, the water content of the coating film becomes high, unfavorably softening and adhesion of capsule and oxidation of content occur. In order to adjust the water activity value of the core solution to <0.55, a large amount of addition of a substance having lowering action on water activity to the core solution is required. Consequently, the core solution becomes viscous and unfavorably workability of production process becomes bad.
