Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable mass-production of rivet contacts with multiple steps without causing buckling of base wire continuously by brazing a contact chip to a base wire, plastically processing the upper half of the wire steppingly, and by forming the head with multiple steps at the oversurface and undersurface. CONSTITUTION:A base wire 10 made in Cu is brazed fast to a contact chip 11 made in AgNi with Ag solder 12. A rivet contact 29 with its head shaped previously is pressed when a press pin 31 protruding to a circular groove 33 with sinking of No.2 punch 30 comes in contact with the oversurface of a protrusion 27 in the form of a truncated cone. When No.2 punch 30 further sinks, the press pin 31 rises against the action of a spring 35 to retract into a slide hole 32, and runs against a stopper 36 to stop. When the No.2 punch 30 sinks furthermore, the protrusion 27 is processed along circular grooves 33, 34 and slide holes 32 in No.2 punch 30 to provide a head 28 having two steps 37, 38 at the oversurface and two steps 25, 26 at the undersurface. Thus rivet contacts 29' with multiple steps are manufactured. This enables continuous mass- production without of the base wire.
