Abstract

CONSTITUTION:Formats to divide each sector are provided on plural sectors on a track 10 in a disk. The servo data 21 is written in the prescribed area of a synchronizing field 12 including a gap part 11 at the forefront part of the format, that is, between a field other than a reloadable and updatable data field 16, etc., for example, an ID field 13 and a gap part 14 for the field 16. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the recovery time of shifting time from a write state to a read state as in case of the format where the servo data is written at the next to the leading gap part 11 from being shortened, and an sufficient recovery time can be obtained, thereby, the servo data can be always read accurately. As a result, it is possible to surely perform the positioning of the magnetic head.
