Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the title substance which is useful as a dye intermediate or a starting substance of agrochemicals, by effecting the reaction of a cinnamyl alcohol derivative with trialkylamine and acetic anhydride, in the presence of a platinum metal catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The reaction between a compound of formula I [R<1> is H, alkyl, -OR (R is alkyl, phenyl); R<2>-R<4> are H, alkyl, phenyl; X is acetoxy, halogen] and CO is carried out in the coexistence of a trialkylamine and acetic anhydride, in the presence of a platinum metal catalyst such as Pd compound for 1-5hr to give an acetate of the compound of formula II, or the product is hydrolyzed to give a compound of formula II. This process is valuable, because it can utilized waste source of carbon monoxide.
