Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce black aluminum nitride sintered product having high density, high thermal conductivity and high light-screening properties, by sintering aluminum nitride along with W or a W compound, Ca or a Ca compound. CONSTITUTION:The subject product is obtained by adding W or a W compound and Ca or a Ca compound to aluminum nitride and sintering the mixture. The aluminum nitride powder to be sintered has preferably 2mu or less average particle size. The W compound is WO3 or a compound to be converted into WO3 by sintering. The Ca compound is CaO or a compound to be converted into CaO by sintering. The sintering auxiliary of W or a W compound or Ca or a Ca compound preferably has very fine particle sizes of less than 10mu, particularly less than 5mu on the average. The amounts of the W or W compound and Ca or Ca compound are preferably 0.1-20wt.%, particularly 1-10wt.% calculated as WO3 and CaO.
