Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a glass deposit layer having long part of uniform thickness and a few slant part in a short time, stably and in high deposit ratio, by traversing plural glass generating devices in order at given intervals in parallel with a target bar, successively circulating the traverse and repeating. CONSTITUTION:Both ends of a target bar 1 comprising a transparent glass bar are held by chucks 32 and the target bar is attached to a glass lathe 3 rotatably by a motor 33. On the other hand, glass is successively deposited on the target bar 1 through a gas feeder 8 and burners 4 and 5 while traversing the two burners 4 and 5 which can be independently traversed by screw shafts 62 and 72 of traversing devices 6 and 7, transfer blocks 63 and 73 and motors 74 at an interval not to mutually interfere motions thereof. When the burners 4 and 5 reach the end of the target bar 1, the burners are independently returned to the beginning end, the burners are retraversed to deposit glass and these operations are repeated to give a glass deposited layer 2.
