Abstract
PURPOSE:To shorten the executing time in a production system for vector instruction columns by transforming an object program into a vector so that a compiler produces plural vector instruction columns in response to respective cases of values available with a variable and these instruction columns are selectively carried out at the time of execution. CONSTITUTION:An unknown variable detecting means 3 analyzes a source program 1 and detects an unknown variable with which the value available at the compiling time point is unknown out of those variables contained in an added character formula for vector elements. Then a vectorization deciding means 4 assumes the value available with said unknown variable and therefore decides whether a vector element can be vectorized to a vector or not. A vector instruction column production means 5 allocates the value available with the unknown variable to each assumed case and produces plural vector instruction columns when the possibility is decided for vectorization. Then a branch instruction group production means 6 produces a branch instruction group for selection of plural vector instruction columns at the time of execution.
