Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently lead lights emitted from light emitting elements to an image holding body such as a photosensitive drum, by a method wherein, the lights emitted from the plurality of light emitting elements are condensed by condensing lenses disposed corresponding to the respective light emitting elements to form and expose an image on the image holding body. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of LEDs 1a as light emitting elements are mounted on a substrate 1b in alignment at predetermined intervals, and a microlens array 2 condenses emitted lights from an LED array 1 to reduce the degree of divergence. A SELFOC lens array 3 makes the luminous flux condensed by the microlens array 2 form an image in straight line on a photosensitive drum 4 as an image holding body. The photosensitive drum 4 is uniformly electrically charged over the surface thereof. An optical signal emitted from the LED array 1 is directed to the surface of the photosensitive drum 4 through the microlens array 2 and the SELFOC lens array 3, whereby an electrostatic latent image according to an information signal is formed. This electrostatic latent image is subjected to a normal electrophotographic process through a developer, a transfer charging device, and a fixing device ; thus, an image is formed on a transfer paper.
