Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily manufacture forging stock for a crank throw free from lack of fill by swaging in taper a pin part in the central contracted part of a round column stock and forming both axial ends by a special tool into an egg-shaped flange. CONSTITUTION:An insert die 21 fitted to the central contracted part of the round column stock is supported by a fixed ring 22 and a casing 23. The pin part 4 and a taper part 3 are swaged and formed by compression of a compression anvil 26 in an axial direction. Flange parts 2 are swaged and formed on both axial ends of the column stock 20 by one set of an upper and a lower control tool 24 having a die surface 24a controlling the external circumferential surface nearly in an egg shape and the compression anvil 26 having a recess part 25 to form a journal part 5. In this method the forging stock for the crank throw is obtained where the flange part 2 nearly in an egg shape having a narrow part 6 on the journal shaft side and a wide part 7 on the pin shaft side is connected with the taper part 3 and the journal part 5 is deviated against the center of the pin shaft.
