Abstract

PURPOSE:To mold and to swage a hollow cylindrical body without forming a burr on a flange surface, by providing preliminarily a projecting step on the inside circumference part of the swaging end of a punch which is loose-fitted to a mandrel. CONSTITUTION:A projecting step part 10 is formed in the inside circumferential part of a punch 5''. The outside diameter phid2 of the step 10 is defined as phid1+ (2-3) where phid1 is the inside diameter of loose-fitting of a mandrel 6, and a difference H in height between the projecting step part 10 and a flat part 12 is defined as the burr occurrence allowable height H=0.1-0.2. A taper face 11 at beta deg. (beta=10-12 deg.) or an R curved face 11' of R=3-5 is proper for the connection between the step part 10 and the flat part 12. This punch 5'' is brought into contact with materials 4 and is pressed into them. Materials 4' are flowed along the taper face 11 or the R face 11' in accordance with progrests of indentation, and thus, materials 4''' are obtained where a recess step part 14 is formed through a flat face 7 and a taper face 13 or an R face 13'.
