Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the load of a filter and prevent clogging thereof, by providing on the primary side of a micro-filter for use in filtering air a buffer member comprised of porous matter such as ceramic material etc.., having larger pores and thickness than those of said filter. CONSTITUTION:There are provided on inlet port 11 on one end of a cylindrical casing 10 and an outlet port 13 on the other end thereof, and a cylindrical buffer member 15 having a closed end on the primary side is disposed in said casing 10. Within the buffer member 15, a filter element 17 similar to said buffer member is held with its outer surface in close contact with the inner surface of said buffer member 15. The filter element 17 is comprised of a porous matter composed of ceramic or metal etc., or polymer membranes, glass fibers etc. The buffer member 15 is a rigid body comprised of porous matter composed of ceramic, metal etc., forming coarse pores therein and having a thickness larger than that of the filter element 17 to protect it.
