Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a hollow yarn composite membrane high in both degree of desalting and amount of water penetration with a simple method by using specified aromatic copolyamide and dissolving it into a solvent in which aromatic polysulfone is not dissolved and applying this soln. on a porous hollow yarn supporting material consisting of aromatic polysulfone. CONSTITUTION:Aromatic copolyamide is synthesized by allowing amine component consisting of mixed diamine of diaminodiphenylsulfone and piperazine and/or diaminobenzoic acid to react with acid component which is aromatic polycarboxylic acid or its derivative such as terephthalic acid chloride. A coating agent is obtained by dissolving it into a solvent which is a non-solvent for a supporting material e.g. into polyethylene glycol. After immersing a porous hollow yarn supporting material consisting of aromatic polysulfone into this coating agent, it is dried to remove the solvent and a permselective hollow yarn composite membrane wherein the surface of the supporting material is coated with aromatic copolyamide in thickness of not more than 10mum is obtained.
