Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the running cost by allowing a repeater not to light all light emitting elements at the same time and lighting sequentially light emitting elements is each one or >=2 areas while sectioning them for plural areas so as to reduce the power consumption. CONSTITUTION:Light receiving elements in all areas P1-P8 are able to receive light with no optical signal inputted. For example, in receiving an optical signal to the light receiving elements in the area P1, the light receiving elements able to receive light are fixed to the area P1 and the light receiving elements in the other areas are brought into the state not receiving light. When an optical signal from a device is given to the light receiving elements in, e.g., the area P1, the light emitting elements in the other areas P2-P8 than the area P1 are lighted accordingly to send an output optical pulse. In this case, the light emitting elements in the areas P2-P8 are not lighted at the same time but they are lighted sequentially for each of one or two or more areas. The sequence of the lighting is decided so that the lighting period of adjacent areas corresponding to the same input optical pulse in the repeater are overlapped mutually.
