Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve sensibility to radiation without lowering graininess and sharpness by applying heat treatment, by which the content of activating agent of activating stimulable phosphor is guaranteed to fluorescent layers composed of stimulable phosphor. CONSTITUTION:In regard to manufacture of a panel having fluorescent layers which contain activating stimulable phosphor, at first a panel 21 increasing sensitibility is set in a heat treatment vessel 22 and powder 27 containing activating agent is displaced in a evaporating vessel 26 respectively. Next, after the vessels 22, 27 are heated up to fixed temperature by the use of heaters 23, 35 respectively, a gas quantity regulating valve 28 is gradually opened and the activating agent gas is diffused in the vessel 22. Diffused quantity of the activating agent is determined by heating temperature of the vessel 26, temperature difference between the vessels 29, 26, the opening quantity of the valve 28 and the like. Heat treatment (annealing) temperature of the panel 21 is different according to the kind of stimulable phosphor and desirably lower than melting point of stimulable phosphor base. The panel 21 after completing the heating treatment is cooled to the room temperature at fixed speed and finished.
