Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently product a preform having a complicated shape and high dimensional accuracy by force-feeding a soln. for the reform into a porous mold disposed in a vacuum chamber. CONSTITUTION:A slurry A prepd. by adding SiC whiskers, etc., to water, etc., is injected from an injection port 11 into a vessel 1. The air C in the vessel 1 is then sucked through a suction pipe 6 and the slurry A is stirred by a propeller 8 and is thereby defoamed. On the other hand, the porous mold B is disposed in the vacuum chamber 3 imposed via a base plate 2 on the vessel 1 and is fixed by clamps 5. The inside of the vacuum chamber 3 is then evacuated to a vacuum through a valve 14. The air is force-fed from a suction pipe 7 into the vessel 1 to pressurize the inside thereof upon ending of the defoaming. A control valve 10 is thereafter opened and the slurry A is force-fed through a casting pipe 4 into the mold B. The soln. in the slurry A is thereby discharged and evaporated to the outside from the mold B and the preform is thus formed.
