Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled blend with both flame retardancy and smokelessness, outstanding in electrical and mechanical properties, by incorporating each specific two kinds of ethylene copolymer with specific inorganic matter.
CONSTITUTION: The objective blend can be obtained by incorporating 100pts.wt. of a blend made up of (A) a copolymer constituted of at least ethylene unit and other unit from monomer selected from α,β-unsaturated monocarboxylic acids, α,β-unsaturated dicarboxylic acids, their anhydrides and their half esters and (B) a second copolymer constituted of at least ethylene unit and other unit from epoxy group-contg. ethylenic unsaturated monomer in which the component A accounts for 10W90wt.% of the components A plus B and the molar ratio of the COOH plus carboxylic anhydride group to the total epoxy group is 0.2/1W5/1 with (C) 30W200pts.wt. of an inorganic matter incapable of generating water at 100°C but capable of generating 1W80wt.% of water at 400°C (e.g., magnesium hydroxide).
