Abstract
PURPOSE:To cause only superconducting particles among mixed powder of superconducting and non-superconducting particles to levitate for capturing the same, by arranging four or more magnetic N and S poles alternately around the center of a magnet in the circumferential direction for causing a superconductor to float at a relatively high level. CONSTITUTION:Four, or more magnetic N and S poles are arranged alternately around the center of a magnet 10 in the circumferential direction. A magnetic field formed thereby has high magnetic flux density and magnetic force lines J thereof are made approximately parallel with the surface of the magnet 10 above the center thereof. A superconducting body 2 arranged above the center of the magnet 10 is subjected to buoyancy F1 from the magnetic field and floats at a relatively high level. If the magnet 10 is disposed in liquid nitride or the like and superconductor powder containing non-superconducting particles is passed across the center of the magnet, superconducting particles K1 can be selectively caused to levitate over the magnet and captured. In this manner, the superconducting particles K1 can be separated completely from the non- superconducting particles K2.
