Abstract

PURPOSE:To execute the optimum color correction for every image by respectively selecting different correction data for a portrait image and a computer graphics CG image, setting it in a color correction circuit and correcting the color. CONSTITUTION:By using the different correction data for the portrait image 2 and the CG image 3 and setting it in the color correction circuit, the different color correction is executed. Table data selected according to the kind and the contents of the image is written in the color correction circuit and the color correction for raising its chroma is executed by using a matrix computation formula I. In an expression R, G and B mean image signals after correcting colors, R0, G0 and B0 mean the image signals before correcting colors and a1-a3, b1-b3 and c1-c3 are coefficients. The color correction circuit is constituted of a look-up table memory which stores the data obtained by multiplying the image signal by the coefficient as table data in order to execute the matrix computation at a high speed and an adder for adding the outputted data from the memory. Thus, the optimum color correction can be executed according to the contents of the images.
