Abstract
PURPOSE:To drive a current controller at a low voltage with respect to a common potential with a simple circuit not requiring any feedback circuit by connecting a terminal of an avalanche photodiode to the common potential via a constant current circuit. CONSTITUTION:The constant current circuit 4 is connected between the avalanche photo diode 2 and the common potential and a coupling capacitor 5 is provided, which is connected between the connecting point of the avalanche photodiode 2 to the constant current circuit 4 and the input of the amplifier 6. The constant current circuit 4 is the open collector circuit composed of a transistor (TR) and a resistor R3 and the current flowing to the TR is determined by the voltage diciding the voltage division ratio of resistors R1, R2 and a positive power supply. Thus, only the DC component (mean value) passes through the TR among the current flowing to the avalanche photodiode 2 and the signal component is inputted to an amplifier 5 by a coupling capacitor 5. Thus, one terminal of the constant current circuit 4 is at a common potential, the output voltage of the current controller 3 controlling the constant current circuit 4 is a low voltage with respect do the common potential.
