Abstract

PURPOSE:To automate production of the system constitution information by giving an instruction to a peripheral controller from a system operating processor via a diagnosing bus to read out the name of an input/output device and sending a reading command via the controller for the type code of the input/ output device to obtain the type code of the input/output device connected to the controller. CONSTITUTION:Plural peripheral controllers 4, an operation control processor 2 and an input/output processor 1 are connected with each other via a system bus and a diagnosing bus in a system. The processor 2 gives an instruction to the controller 4 to read out the name of an input/output device 5 via the diagnosing bus. Then the controller 4 sends a reading command for the type code of the device 5 connected with the controller 4. Receiving said command, the device 5 sends back the type code of its own which is set previously. The processor 2 converts the type code received from the controller 4 via the diagnosing bus into a device name. Thus the production is automated for the information on the system constitution.
