PURPOSE:To obtain an oxidation inhibiting soln. which can prevent the tarnish of the surface of a metallic material due to oxidation when applied to the surface of the material before the material is heat treated in an oxidizing atmosphere, by mixing 1-4C alcohol with boron oxide and trimethoxyborane and/or triethoxyborane in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:This oxidation inhibiting soln. is composed of 65-85wt.% 1-4C alcohol, 10-35wt.% boron oxide and 4-30wt.% trimethoxyborane and/or triethoxyborane. The soln. may be composed of 65-85wt.% 1-4C alcohol, 10-30wt.% boron oxide, 4-30wt.% trimethoxyborane and/or triethoxyborane and 0.5-5wt.% sodium tetraborate.
