Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a medical material extremely excellent in antithrombogenic property, by graft-copolymerizing N, N-dimethylaminoproplylacrylamide and a hydrophylic monomer having a copolymerization promoting property with a polyurethane elastomer. CONSTITUTION:A polyurethane elastomer to be used is a polymer formed on the basis of an urethane bond and the elasticity is near to that of the tissue of a living body such as a blood vessel or skin tissue. N, N- dimethylaminopropylacrylamide is a polymerizable monomer extremely rich in hydrophylicity and water absorbability and introduced into a base material by graft polymerization to show an excellent antithrombogenic property. A hydrophylic monomer having a copolymerization promoting property performs the graft copolymerization with N, N-dimethylaminopropylacrylamide in a solution mixture to form a graft chain and increases the introduction amount of N, N-dimethylaminopropylacrylamide. Further, a graft polymerization method introduces a monomer into the polymer base material through the formation of a graft chain. As a result, a medical material having a high antithrombogenic property can be obtained.
