CONSTITUTION:A feedback controller 7 starts a track follow-up control system in a magnetic head 1 in the outermost peripheral area 11, and in said stage, stores a position error signal and a magnetic head driving signal generated from a feedback controller 7. In a data area 10, a track position error signal in a prescribed point between sectors is interpolated from a track position error signal obtained during the execution of track follow-up control in the outermost peripheral area and a track positional error signal recorded in each preceding sector from a prescribed point. Even if the number of data bytes in each sector is changed, excellent follow-up characteristics can be obtained.
