Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform readily the drying and temp. elevation at low cost in the drying and temp. elevation of a cooling tower, by putting bed coke into the tower, spreading mortar-coated coke over the top thereof and performing heating and drying by burner flame. CONSTITUTION:In the drying, and temp. elevation of a cooling tower body 1 after oven construction in coke dry quenching facilities, first, bed coke 8 is put into the main body 1 until the height of the coke reaches a predetermined level. Then, mortar-coated coke is spread over the top of the bed coke 8, thereby forming a topmost layer 9. A burner 11 is inserted into the cooling tower body 1 through an opening 10 provided in the side wall thereof, and the refractories inside the body 1 are heated and dried by flame from the burner 11. As a result, the bed coke 8 is free from ignition and combustion because heat is shut off by the topmost layer 9. After the completion of the drying, the bed coke 8 and the topmost layer 9 are taken out through a discharge port 12.
