Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize low power consumption by selectively giving a first pulse for still picture information and a second pulse for animation to a solid-state image pickup element as a driving pulse. CONSTITUTION:When a release 100 is half-pushed, power source is supplied to the solid-state image pickup element 103, a driving circuit 108, etc. A pulse for real-time driving is supplied to the solid-state image pickup element 103 from the driving circuit 108 and that output is displayed on a monitor 110. When the release 100 is full-pushed, the frequency of the driving pulse from the driving circuit 108 is reduced and the solid-state image pickup element 103 is read by the reduced driving pulse. The read picture signal is stored in a memory card 111 through an A/D converter 105.
