Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a rubber composition excellent in dispersibility, processability and abrasion resistance and useful as a tire tread, by mixing a rubber component with a carbon black of specified properties.
CONSTITUTION: A carbon black (B) having a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area (N2SA) belonging to the hard class of 140m2/g or above and an agglomerate void diameter (nm) having a value larger than that determined from the formula 59.182-0.236×[N2SA(m2/g)] is obtained by using a Y structure oil furnace composed of a combustion chamber equipped with a combustion burner and a feed oil injection nozzle on its head two series of generation zones each composed of a thermal decomposition conduit contiguous to said combustion burner, wherein the thermal decomposition conduits of these generation zones are converged and united, simultaneously feeding the streams of carbon black intermediate gases formed in said generation zones at a high speed to a cylindrical main reaction zone and allowing them to collide with each other. 100pts.wt. rubber component (A) such as a natural rubber is mixed with 35W100pts.wt. component B.
