Abstract
PURPOSE: To discriminate the used state of a telephone set of a called subscriber without calling the subscriber by using the telephone set of a calling subscriber, by also displaying the information whether the telephone set of the called subscriber is in a vacant state or busy state.
CONSTITUTION: When a telephone directory data base is accessed through a host computer 4, the name and telephone number of a called subscriber are displayed together with the state of the telephone set of the called subscriber whether the telephone set is busy or not, which is displayed as additional information. In order to make such displays, a controller 3 and programs assembled in the host computer 4 are caused to make various processes. Therefore, whether a called telephone set is vacant or not can be discriminated and the called subscriber can be called after the telephone becomes vacant by watching the display on a screen.
