Abstract
PURPOSE:To separate a pyridone carboxylic acid compd. with high accuracy by using high-performance liquid chromatography in the presence of optically active amino acid and bivalent metal ions to separate said compd. CONSTITUTION:The (+ or -)-pyridone carboxylic acid compd. having the asymmetric carbon expressed by the formula is separated by the high-performance liquid chromatography. In the formula, X, Y denote hydrogen, halogen; Z denotes hydrogen, halogen, cyclic amine; A denotes oxygen, sulfur nitrogen, methylene, ethylene, ketone group; R<1> denotes an alkyl groups; (n) denotes 0, 1. The optically active amino acid (for example, L-phenyl alanine) and the bivalent metal ions (for example, copper ions) are added to the mobile phase at the time of this chromatography. The pyridone carboxylic acid compd. is thereby made into the optical antipode which is directly and easily separated and can be industrially dividable by the high-performance liquid chromatography. The (+ or -)-pyridone carboxylic acid compd. is, therefore, rapidly analyzed, dispensed and refined with the high accuracy.
