Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain excellent traveling durability by incorporating a binder consisting of a polyurethane resin which has the polar group selected from a specific group and has the glass transition temp. within a specific temp. range and specific aliphat. polyisocyanate into a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic layer has at least one kind of the polar group selected from the group consisting of -COOM, -SO3M, -OSO3M, and -PO(OM')2, where M denotes H, alkaline metal atom, NH4 or quaternary ammonium group; M' denotes Y, alkali metal or lower hydrocarbon group. The magnetic layer contains the binder consisting of the polyurethane resin having the glass transition temp. in a -10-70 deg.C range and at least one kind of the aliphat. polyisocyanates expressed by formulas I, II, III. In formulas, R<1>, R<2>, R<3> denote alkyl groups of 3-10C which may be the same or different from each other. The modulus of elasticity at 0.5% elongation of the magnetic layer is so adjusted as to be 500-1,200kg/mm<2>.
