Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the stroke of a brake pedal from being increased, by moving a connecting member relating to a lever member to a position where a hydraulic fluid passage and a power pressure chamber are isolated from each other when a power piston is retracted from a reaction piston after the power pressure reaches its upper limit value. CONSTITUTION:A reaction piston 246 fitted in the housing 32 of a hydraulic booster 10 is actuated by means of an input rod 42 so as to control a control valve 230 through a motion converting mechanism 240 in accordance with the relative motion between the reaction piston 246 and a power piston 244 so that the power pressure in a power pressure chamber 38 is controlled. In this arrangement, one end of a lever member 242 in the motion converting mechanism 240 is connected to the react on piston 246 through a connecting member 260. Further, when the power piston 244 is retracted relative to the reaction piston 246, the connecting member 260 is moved to a position where a hydraulic fluid passage 280 communicating between a hydraulic fluid chamber 280 and the power pressure chamber 38 is shut off.
