Abstract
PURPOSE:To uniformly cool a superconductive conductor with a smooth coolant flow by inserting the superconductive conductor into a metallic pipe so that the conductor comes into contact with the inner surface of the metallic pipe at least two points on the circumferential direction of the metallic pipe and that spaces are formed at specified intervals in the circumferential direction. CONSTITUTION:A structure is formed by inserting a superconductive conductor 4 made of an oxide superconductive material into a metallic pipe 5. The conductor 4 is formed with a triangular cross section. The side corner 6 of the conductor 4 comes into contact with the inner surface of the pipe 5 and a space 8 is formed between a flat side portion 7 and the inner surface of the pipe 5. The conductor 4 is cooled below a critical temperature by flowing liquid nitrogen through the space 8 of the cable obtained as described above. Since the conductor 4 is inserted in a condition of coming into stabilized contact with the inner surface of the pipe 5 and of forming spaces at specified intervals in the circumferential direction of the pipe, fluid resistance of the coolant flowing through the space is made uniform from space to space and as a result the coolant is smoothly flowed to uniformly cool the conductor.
