Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure the far infrared ray characteristic in the local region within a living body with high sensitivity and to obtain the data of the metabolism or tumor of the living body, by inserting a detector in the body of an object to be examined to perform measurement. CONSTITUTION:This apparatus is constituted of the catheter 2 inserted in the body of an object to be examined, the detector 3 positioned at the leading end part of the catheter and a far infrared ray source 4 placed outside the body. The far infrared rays emitted toward the detector 3 from the far infrared ray source are partially absorbed in a measuring region to be incident to a far infrared ray condensing lens 12 and condensed to a Josephson junction part 15 by the far infrared ray condensing lens 12 and a far infrared ray condensing horn 13 and detected as a current by a Josephson junction detector 14 at the Josephson junction part 15. By scanning the wavelength of far infrared rays, absorption spectrum data is obtained. Further, by the moving scanning of the detector or far infrared ray source 4, the absorption spectrum data in the adjacent measuring region is obtained. By this method, the absorption characteristic data in various measuring regions are measured and the infrared ray characteristics of living body tissue are formed into an image.
