Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the inconvenience of readjustment every time the adjustment of the headrest at the time of seating or the seating posture is changed, by arranging a plurality of detection electrodes which are apart to each other in the inside of the portion of the outer cover of the headrest where the head of an occupant is supported, and by driving the headrest in the direction to which the respective capacitances of the headrest electrodes are balanced. CONSTITUTION: All the frequency data stored in the resistors R71 , R72 , R73 , and R74 summed up. When this sum total ΣA is a prescribed value B or more, and when the head part 1a of an occupant is apart from the headrest la and the capacitances of detection electrodes 71 , 72 , 73 , and 74 are uniformly low, a motor is normally turned and is not energized for forwardly driving the headrest 1a. Further, when the sum total ΣA is less than a prescribed value C and the head part of the occupant is pressedly brought into contact with the headrest 1a, and when the capacitances of the detection electrodes 71 , 72 , 73 , and 74 are uniformly high, the motor is reversedly energized for driving the headrest 1a toward the rear.
